“The changes are significant”, according to Digital Foundry; Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is closer to being a remake like Demon’s Souls…
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is only a few days away! Gamers can once again enjoy Guerrilla Games’ open-world action RPG. The community was surprised that a remaster was announced for a title that still looks great to this day. However, many players were impressed by the visual changes between the original and the new version, and this can be seen in the comparison between Horizon Zero Dawn and the remaster.
In this regard, Digital Foundry had the opportunity to perform a technical analysis of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and John Linneman pointed out that it is closer to a remake than a remaster. “The changes are significant enough that I’m not even sure the word remaster is the correct one here. Horizon Remastered reminds me more of Bluepoint’s work on Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls,” he said.
“Perhaps not that ambitious, but it’s more in that ballpark than not.”
“There’s this sense that the team [Nixxes Software] went through with a fine-tooth comb, and made sure they redid basically everything in the game to look properly modern,” – says Linneman (after Gamesradar). Improvements were made to tree foliage, character modeling, water effects, and reflections, Digital Foundry also noted that there will be three performance modes (30, 40, and 60 FPS) that balance visual quality and resolution.
Changes in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered arguably took the best features of Horizon Forbidden West and adapted them into this remaster. This is also why we can see more populated cities, as the number of NPCs and the variety of activities have been increased. This way, the environment feels much more alive – writes Nixxes on the PlayStation Blog. In addition, the terrain has become much more detailed. In particular, snow with deformable technology, as well as plants, have increased density and detail, textures are more realistic, and biomes are more complete. On October 31, it will be revealed how much exactly Aloy’s original adventure has changed…
