Tom Hardy’s Long-Awaited Netflix Action Thriller Finally Gets a Release Date Update

MOVIE NEWS – Did you know that Oscar nominee and Venom star Tom Hardy wrapped filming an action thriller with The Raid’s acclaimed director over three years ago? If not, here’s the exciting news: Tom Hardy is set to lead a Netflix thriller from the director of The Raid. The film, titled Havoc, completed shooting years ago, but its release date has remained a mystery—until now.

Luckily, director Gareth Evans, known for Merantau, The Raid 2, and Apostle, recently shared on Instagram that Havoc is projected to hit Netflix in early 2025. Evans provided insight into the movie’s progress, stating:

“Only the most glamorous of locations. But working with the best of friends. That’s a wrap on additional photography for Havoc. Massive thanks to cast and crew for their support and hard work over the past 2 weeks. Next up…. 5-6 months of post (editing, VFX, colour, sound) so we can make everything nice and shiny and loud ready for what will hopefully be a Q1 release next year. No trailer, promo materials will be released before the film is finalised and mastered so in a bid to temper expectations – don’t expect anything before the new year.”

Tom Hardy and Gareth Evans Team Up for Explosive Action

The collaboration between Inception and Warrior star Tom Hardy and The Raid director Gareth Evans is set to be a high-octane spectacle. The premise of Havoc is straightforward yet thrilling: written and directed by Evans, the film follows a battered detective as he battles through a criminal underworld to save a politician’s estranged son, uncovering a web of corruption that entangles his entire city. Hardy’s character, the “bruised detective,” plunges into the fray with relentless intensity.

Hardy has previously praised Evans, saying, “It’s real genre. If you’re gonna do martial arts, then Gareth’s your guy.” Fans can expect gritty, high-end action in this Netflix-exclusive feature.

Havoc also stars Forest Whitaker, Timothy Olyphant, and a stellar supporting cast, including Xelia Mendes-Jones, Justin Cornwell, Jessie Mei Li, Yeo Yann Yann, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Sunny Pang, and Michelle Waterson.

Meanwhile, Hardy is currently appearing in his final outing as Eddie Brock/Venom in Venom: The Last Dance, directed by Kelly Marcel. The movie stars Hardy alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham, following Eddie and Venom on the run.
