Following a rumour circulating on social media, Warhorse has confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is on the way…
If there’s one open-world RPG we’re really looking forward to in 2025, it’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The sequel to Warhorse Studios’ project, which wowed gamers in 2018 with its depiction of 15th-century Bohemian society, looks massive and exciting. While the developers are saddened by the delay to 2025, they have some good news: the game won’t use Denuvo!
The announcement comes amid the confusion surrounding the use of Denuvo, which arose after an email from Warhorse Studios’ parent company, Plaion (via PCGamesN), appeared to indicate that the game would include anti-piracy protection.
However, Warhorse has denied these rumours, clarifying that Denuvo has not been officially announced and that it was a misunderstanding.
“There won’t be any Denuvo at all,” said Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Warhorse Studios’ global PR manager, during a streaming broadcast on Twitch. Despite Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 not arriving until 2025, the developers are also looking to win over PC gamers by allaying concerns about the use of Denuvo ahead of its release. Stolz-Zwilling urged players not to ask the studio about DRM, confirming that Warhorse never announced its introduction and that the misunderstanding was due to an internal disagreement.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a win in gamers’ fight against Denuvo
In context for the announcement, Denuvo has been widely criticized by gamers for years. Evidence suggests that the software not only affects game performance but has also given a bad name to several major studios’ titles. In response to this negative perception, several developers, including the teams behind Space Marine 2, Payday 3, and Tekken 8, have decided not to use Denuvo in these and future games.
Players can expect smoother performance with a Denuvo-free Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Plus, the game will be free for those who contributed to certain levels of the original Kickstarter campaign, which is an extra incentive for fans of the franchise.
