Metal Gear series producer Noriaki Okamura has revealed that one of the primary motivations behind the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 is to make the game accessible to younger gamers. Konami realized that new generations may not be as familiar with the iconic Metal Gear series.
When a series is absent from the gaming scene for an extended period, younger audiences may lack awareness of its existence or significance. Created by Hideo Kojima, the Metal Gear Solid series is one of the most influential in the gaming world, with titles that are memorable for older fans, but largely unknown to newer players. Konami’s goal with the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is to ensure that this legendary game reaches new generations.
In this regard, Okamura, in an interview with Gamesradar, discussed how younger gamers are generally unfamiliar with Konami’s espionage franchise, which is understandable given that the last major release, excluding last year’s collection, was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain nine years ago.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that millions are unacquainted with the Metal Gear series. “One of the things that really drove us to do the remake was realizing that many new gamers are no longer familiar with the Metal Gear series,” Okamura explained. “Essentially, our mission, our duty, was to ensure that the series continues for future generations.”
Konami Discusses Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2
It has been a few weeks since Konami mentioned Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2, initially indicating that the games and release date were undecided. Recently, however, they announced that they aim to avoid repeating the mistakes of the first release by working harder to adapt the new collection for current-gen platforms, as they only released HD versions of the older titles with minimal updates in Volume 1.
