MOVIE NEWS – Vin Diesel Reveals His Character in an Intense Moment in Riddick 4…
Action movie superstar Vin Diesel has shared a new photo from the long-awaited sci-fi sequel, Riddick 4. Officially titled Riddick: Furya, the sequel will see Diesel return as Pitch Black’s antihero Richard B. Riddick. Diesel shared a photo from the set on Instagram. (See the link at the bottom of the article!) In the photo, he looks angrily at the sky, suggesting that some bad guys are getting what they deserve…
Diesel has been promising the arrival of a fourth Riddick movie for quite some time. The Fast and the Furious star will reunite with director David Twohy. While much of the sequel remains as mysterious as the titular antihero, the filmmaker previously revealed that Riddick 4 will finally reveal more about the character’s past.
“This new big-screen event will see a return to Riddick’s homeworld, where we finally get to explore Riddick’s genesis.”
Riddick 4 will explore the beloved antihero’s mysterious past
Riddick first appeared in the acclaimed sci-fi horror film Pitch Black over two decades ago in 2000 and remains one of Vin Diesel’s most beloved characters and franchises. The first film tells the terrifyingly isolated story of a crew whose spaceship crashes on a planet inhabited by truly deadly monsters at night. The sun is about to disappear in a solar eclipse… The 2004 sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, is much larger in scale, and significantly expands the story of both the character and the universe he inhabits: Riddick battles the “Necromongers,” an empire bent on wiping out humanity.
Unlike its predecessor, the sequel received largely negative reviews and was a box-office disappointment. Audiences last saw Riddick in 2013’s Riddick, which learned from the mistakes of The Chronicles of Riddick and told a smaller, more isolated story, drawing on Pitch Black. This time, the character once again finds himself on a ruthless planet, on the run from a deadly group of mercenaries intent on killing him.
Diesel has since promised a fourth outing. Riddick: Furya is once again written and directed by David Twohy alongside creators Jim and Ken Wheat, with Diesel starring and producing. The official synopsis for Riddick: Furya has since been released, and it reads:
“Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”
Riddick: Furya has yet to receive a release date.
