Big News for Final Fantasy VII Remake Fans: Huge Progress on the Trilogy’s Final Chapter

Great news from the Final Fantasy universe! Just eight months after the release of the last game, developers have announced that the story for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is already complete, and the team is ready to move into the next phase of development.

In 2020, Final Fantasy VII: Remake debuted, followed by Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth in February 2024, continuing the story of Cloud and his companions. Now, Square Enix has confirmed that just eight months after Rebirth’s release, the trilogy’s closing chapter is making significant progress. The story is complete, and the developers have received the green light to proceed with the next phase.

This confirmation came from Naoki Hamaguchi, one of the trilogy’s directors, and Yoshinori Kitase, the producer, during a talk at Japan’s G-STAR 2024 event (via 4Gamer and Knoebel on X). They revealed that the story and concept for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 are finalized, allowing the team to focus on their respective tasks. While the developers emphasized the importance of the game’s concept, they are not yet ready to share further details.

Another exciting revelation for the upcoming RPG is the inclusion of airship travel. According to the developers, this feature will allow players to “experience the world from a higher perspective.” While long-time fans may not find this surprising, it’s still a tantalizing detail about what’s in store for the next chapter of Final Fantasy.

What Do We Know About Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3?

Since the release of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Square Enix has been teasing small details about the trilogy’s final installment. They have stated that the game “won’t betray fans,” will provide greater freedom for players, and will feature the popular Queen’s Blood. Square Enix has set lofty goals for this project, describing it as “one of the most beloved video games in history,” with a projected release window of 2027.
