Should Digital Technologies be the Basis for the Education of the Future?

TECH NEWS – Smart classrooms, ultra-fast Wi-Fi, and innovative storage solutions—these are just a few technological advancements shaping the future of university education and research. At the joint event of Óbuda University and Huawei Technologies titled “Digital Leap in Higher Education,” the latest trends in digital education and Huawei’s cutting-edge solutions were showcased, offering more efficient and interactive learning environments. For instance, the Wi-Fi 7 network technology, already being installed at Óbuda University, provides four times faster data transfer, while AI and cloud-based solutions support personalized education and international research collaborations.

Óbuda University hosted the “Digital Leap in Higher Education” event, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of digitalization in higher education institutions, with a particular emphasis on technology solutions tailored to education. The event aimed to highlight the latest trends, innovative technologies for higher education, and Huawei’s solutions designed to create modern, interactive learning environments.

The showcased solutions centered around artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based technologies, which open new horizons for educational institutions. AI-based learning systems provide personalized educational experiences, while cloud infrastructure facilitates collaboration without geographical constraints, enabling international research projects and remote education. Educational experts and researchers participating in the event agreed that adopting such technologies not only enhances the efficiency and appeal of education but also boosts the long-term international competitiveness of Hungary’s higher education system.

Wi-Fi 7: Four Times Faster Data Transfer Available by Next Year

One of the most notable innovations presented at the event was Wi-Fi 7 technology, currently being installed at Óbuda University. This next-generation network technology offers four times faster data transfer than its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6, and utilizes Multi-Link Operation, enabling data transmission over multiple frequency bands simultaneously. This reduces network congestion and latency, even with numerous devices connected. By 2025, the innovation will fully support the university’s research and educational activities. Participants at the event experienced firsthand how this network of the future performs in real-world settings.

Smart Classrooms, New Educational Experiences, and Efficient Data Storage

The event also featured Huawei’s Smart Classroom Solution, representing a new era in digital education. This innovative solution demonstrates how a classroom can be interactive, efficient, and experience-driven simultaneously. The Huawei Smart Classroom Solution integrates interactive learning experiences with the latest technological tools. By combining online and offline learning, it boosts student engagement while simplifying material presentation for teachers.

At the heart of the solution is the IdeaHub Board, an intelligent touchscreen display that serves as a digital whiteboard, video conferencing system, and content-sharing platform. This multifunctional device allows teachers and students to collaborate on documents, take notes, or draw together. The IdeaHub also serves as an ideal tool for hybrid education, supporting remote teaching and group work through its built-in cameras and microphones. It easily connects with other devices like laptops or tablets, making it simple to share materials or presentations. Additionally, the IdeaHub integrates with Huawei’s educational cloud platform, which provides access to digital content, learning materials, and interactive applications.

Participants also explored one of the company’s most advanced storage solutions, the Huawei OceanStor Pacific system, which handles large volumes of data quickly and efficiently. This makes it an ideal choice for research projects and programs requiring significant computational capacity. Its adaptability to changing needs and support for various data management solutions ensure seamless integration into existing IT systems.

Huawei ICT Academy Program: Bridging Higher Education and the Job Market

In addition to technological solutions, Huawei emphasizes knowledge transfer. The company’s Huawei ICT Academy program serves as a bridge between higher education and the IT job market, equipping students with marketable skills. Participants in the program gain exposure to the latest IT trends and technologies, learn with state-of-the-art simulation tools, and can take certified exams free of charge.

In Hungary, five educational institutions, including Óbuda University, are already part of the ICT Academy program. Competitions, such as the ICT Contest for the 2024/2025 academic year, offer additional opportunities for students to acquire competitive skills. This year’s contest includes three categories: Practice, Innovation, and Teaching. To participate, students and teachers must register on the official Huawei ICT Academy website. The registration deadline is December 31 for students and November 30 for teachers.
