The French publisher seems to be under pressure, not only because of the poor sales of Star Wars: Outlaws (which led to the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows until next year), but also because of PC gamers…
Microsoft has confirmed that several Ubisoft titles are not working properly on PCs that have been upgraded to Windows 11 24H2. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft have announced that they are working on a fix, and one game has already received a temporary fix while they work on the final patch. That game is Star Wars: Outlaws, which recently received a major update, 1.4.0, which tweaked the stealth system extensively, absolutely improving the quality of life from what we saw at launch.
What’s changed is that if you’re detected, you can change your strategy or fight, so you don’t get the old Mission Failed screen and have to start all over again. Kay can use a two-handed weapon in different situations, enemies have been given weaknesses and we can use them very quickly to turn the fight in our favor.
What are these five games that are mostly stuck on a black screen, forcing us to quit them via the task manager? In addition to Star Wars: Outlaw, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora all suffer from this bug. Star Wars has a temporary fix for the crash, but performance is still questionable. Microsoft has issued a temporary “compatibility hold” for PCs that have not upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 but have one of the affected games installed. The Redmond-based company is also asking that users not use Windows 11 installation wizards or media creation tools to manually upgrade to version 24H2 until all of the aforementioned Ubisoft titles have been fixed.
So sometimes it’s really a good idea to run an older operating system.
