MOVIE NEWS – Fans are getting behind-the-scenes tidbits about Jurassic World: Resurrection in small doses, making every scrap of information a cause for celebration. The latest debate revolves around a newly released still featuring Scarlett Johansson holding an intriguing weapon.
The weapon appears to be a high-caliber sniper rifle equipped with a scope, but it ends with an injection needle and has a small attached container, suggesting it’s more of a medical tool. According to GameRant’s analysis, it’s a multifunctional device: it can serve as a lethal weapon but is primarily designed to extract genetic samples from various creatures. This deduction aligns with the sparse synopsis released so far. It reveals that Johansson’s character, Zora Bennett, leads a specialized unit on the genre’s staple—a remote exotic island—and her mission is to collect DNA samples from the largest land, air, and sea dinosaurs. A mysterious pharmaceutical company plans to use these samples to create miraculous all-healing drugs. Of course, nothing goes as planned, as is the tradition in dinosaur movies.
GameRant speculates that the weapon in Johansson’s hands can also fire tranquilizer darts in emergencies, while the scope is meant to help target the optimal body part of the dinosaur for sample extraction. The portal also suggests that while the heroine is hunting dinosaurs with her scientific weapon, her team members are likely armed with at least mortars, fully aware of the creatures they’re up against.
