South of Midnight: Will It Miss The Game Awards?

There are rumors and rumors about the next game from Compulsion Games. The question is, which will come true…

On Twitter, Xbox Era editor Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker shared the rumors we recently reported that South of Midnight could be one of the stars of The Game Awards. Windows Central editor Jez Corden responded with a short but sweet “no,” meaning that the game will not be on the Xbox lineup at the last major video game event of the year.

There may be a reason for this. Microsoft (which already includes Activision Blizzard King and ZeniMax Media, i.e. all the studios of Activision, Blizzard and Bethesda…) has other projects that are also long awaited and could possibly be presented here. There’s the Fable reboot, or maybe DOOM: The Dark Ages, and those are just two titles that come to mind. There are many more to mention.

The developers of Contrast and We Happy Few are working on a third-person action-adventure set in the southern United States but in a gothic fantasy version inspired by local folk tales. Our main character is Hazel, and after her hometown of Prospero is destroyed by a hurricane, she is forced to become a Weaver, a magical healer of broken ties and spirits. Armed with these skills, she must fight off dangerous creatures to save her mother, but in the process, she also learns about her family’s past and may find a new home.

By harnessing our ancient powers, we will be able to restore the creatures and find out what traumas they are dealing with. You can use Weaving Magic to battle the destructive Haint, explore the diverse landscape, and reweave the tears of the great tapestry. As you explore the lush yet decaying county of Prospero and its inhabitants, you will experience an artistic stop-motion visual style, not to mention a haunting story and musical score inspired by the complex and rich history of the southern United States.

But none of this is official yet (including the fact that the Xbox Series/PC release is supposedly coming in March)!
