What Does the Totally Free Fallout New Vegas Prequel Mod Offer? [VIDEO]

Fallout: New Vegas has received a free prequel that adds 13 endings and 30 hours of content to the story, which could easily pass as an official DLC. Obsidian’s most acclaimed RPG is now enriched by a must-have mod.

The Gamebryo and Creation Engine modding community is truly astonishing. Games like Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout: New Vegas are filled with incredible fan-made creations that could easily be mistaken for official expansions. Today, we’re talking about one such project. If you need an excuse to revisit New Vegas, here’s one: Fallout: New California.

Fallout: New California, a fan-made prequel

Fallout: New California introduces a completely new origin story for your character. In this game, you play as a Vault 18 resident who, in 2260, decides to change their fate – and that of the NCR – forever. This prequel takes you to the California wasteland years before the events of New Vegas, and it offers so much content that you could easily believe it was made by Obsidian themselves.

The mod features a brand new map about two-thirds the size of New Vegas, a main storyline with tons of side quests, new voice-acted dialogues, radio stations, and up to 8 different companions. Add to that 13 different endings and up to 30 hours of gameplay, and you’re left with a monumental fan project, all available for free.

To try Fallout: New California, head over to its Nexus Mods page, where you can download it for free. The developers have also provided a step-by-step guide for installation, as well as a FAQ list to help resolve any issues.
