STEAM DECK NEWS – With Lenovo rumored to be releasing three new models in a row from the Lenovo Legion Go sequel, it’s worth distinguishing between them…
The next-generation Lenovo Legion Go will be different from other handheld PCs (such as the Steam Deck) in that it will continue the functionality of the first-generation device. In other words, after the Nintendo Switch, it will also be possible to remove the mini controllers from both sides to play games like Joy-Cons. Since this formula is not followed by the others, it will allow the Chinese company to stand out from the crowd of handhelds.
In addition, The Verge even reported that it will be bigger than the Lenovo Legion Go S that we recently rumored. It will feature the AMD Ryzen Z2 APU, which is not the same as the Z2 Extreme! The latter is based on the Zen 5 architecture and features the latest RDNA 3.5 graphics, while the regular Z2 is based on Zen 3+ and RDNA 2. In terms of looks, the new handheld PC will also change a bit and could have an 8.8″ (22.35 cm) OLED (or even LED for cheaper models) display at 2560×1600 resolution.
The Lenovo Legion Go S essentially follows the Nintendo Switch Lite because you can’t remove the controllers and it’s a few hundred dollars cheaper. All of these devices will run Windows 11, and the Lenovo Legion Go 2 doesn’t have the Steam button on the left controller, while the S does. Not much is known about the specs, but the new Legion Go will be faster thanks to the newer architecture and the Radeon 890M graphics (16 cores). The original Legion Go used the Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU with Zen 4 processor and RDNA 3 graphics architecture. The new model could have a longer battery life (possibly 80Wh), as the S also has a larger battery.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 could be released in the first quarter of 2025, by the end of March.
