During The Game Awards 2024, Dotemu and The Game Kitchen announced Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, the next installment in the legendary franchise. The game is set to release in summer 2025 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound takes place in the world of the classic NES trilogy, directly following the events of the first game. While Ryu Hayabusa avenges his father’s death in America, a mysterious portal opens in the Hayabusa village, connecting the human and demon realms. Players take on the role of Kenji Mozu, a young warrior of the Hayabusa clan, to fend off the demonic invasion.
Developed by The Game Kitchen, known for the Blasphemous series, Ragebound honors the fast-paced, challenging combat of the classic NES games. The game features modernized pixel art visuals and hand-drawn animations that retain the NES aesthetic while elevating it to the visual standards of the PlayStation and Sega Saturn eras. The original soundtrack, composed specifically for this project, enhances the nostalgic yet fresh experience.
Players can expect upgradable abilities, hidden collectibles, and optional quests, along with gameplay that tests their skill and strategy. Dotemu, previously responsible for Streets of Rage 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, collaborates with the creators of Blasphemous to bring new life to the Ninja Gaiden universe.
