Free GTA Online?! Yes, You Can Try the Game, But Hurry Up!

You can still try this game, which has been available for almost a week and has made a lot of money for the publisher.

Grand Theft Auto V was released in September 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and later for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, but this isn’t about that, it’s about its online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, which became such a cash cow for Rockstar Games and Take-Two that Rockstar ended up not making any single-player DLC for GTA V (although there were plans, and we reported on them).

Grand Theft Auto Online is sold separately, and the game is still being heavily expanded by Rockstar. Proof of this is Agents of Sabotage, which we’ve already written about. Maybe the game will be expanded until Grand Theft Auto VI is released and then it will be replaced by a new GTAO, but who knows. In any case, there’s a twist to this trial.

Until the 24th of December you can play Grand Theft Auto Online without a PlayStation Plus subscription, you just have to buy GTA Online, which is available at a 50% discount. Or if you already own Grand Theft Auto V, you can get Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the bundle and play it without a PlayStation Plus subscription until Christmas Eve.

The problem is that this is some kind of trick from Rockstar and Take-Two. It’s a ploy to get players to spend more money on Grand Theft Auto VI. Remember, this game is due out this autumn for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and it could be the biggest release ever in the games industry. (We also wrote that many publishers and developers are holding off on announcing a release date so they don’t get too close to GTA VI).
