Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet: Has Naughty Dog’s New Game Plot Leaked? [VIDEO]

It was allegedly a frustrated developer who leaked the story because he didn’t like where the studio, led by Neil Druckmann, was going…

The player character, Jordan, was a member of “The Five Aces”, a group of notorious criminals. The leader, Luis (Tony Dalton), disappeared without a trace, causing the Five to drift apart. The reason for Jordan’s shaved head, the absurd reaction Naughty Dog fully expected, is to hide her identity, as she is a wanted criminal. Jordan only works as a bounty hunter to find her former partners, especially Luis, who she sees as a father figure. Kumail Nanjiani plays Colin, the comic relief of the crew.

The tutorial and opening mission takes place on the moon of Sempiria, resulting in Jordan chasing Colin into space. There will be no space combat, the above segment is a cutscene. As they enter Sempiria’s atmosphere, an EMP wave disables both ships, causing them to crash in different places. The majority of the game is described as an “open world Uncharted mixed with sci-fi elements”. The majority of enemy combatants are AI-driven machines, but with a wide variety of types. Melee, ranged, and even vehicular combat are in the game. The base of operations in the game is your customizable crashed ship. As you find each member of your old crew, they will join you on the ship (with seamless interactions depending on the day/night cycle, think Red Dead Redemption 2) in your search for Luis.

Luis sent a message to all members of the Five, except Jordan, to meet him on the planet. They were instructed to come alone and not mention it to the other members. Once three members of the crew (besides Luis) join you, the game takes a hard turn. A subterranean race of “aliens” known as Sempirians kidnaps Jordan’s teammates. The ship, with all its decorations and customizations, is destroyed, inspired by Mass Effect 2’s Collectors event. The Sempirians resemble humans, with some notable differences (the ability to sprout large insect legs that allow them to scale walls; night vision). With more of a survival horror twist, you make your way through underground tunnels to try and rescue your crew.

You reach where they are being held; Luis is preparing to execute them in front of a horde of angry Sempirians. Jordan interrupts and demands to know why Luis is doing this. Luis explains the big twist: the Sempirians were once humans who were teleported to the planet thousands of years ago as a side effect of the quantum experiments needed to develop long-distance space travel technology. The quantum influence on their genetics rapidly advanced the stages of evolution to help them adapt to Sempiria’s harsh environment. When Luis crashed on the planet, he empathized with their race and promised to support their desire to return to Earth (Druckmann had apparently read Heart of Darkness, which inspired this plot point).

The Sempirian religion, founded by “The Heretic Prophet,” stated that generations would suffer until a messiah came to lead the Sempirians to their ancestral homeland, where they would reclaim the land and purify its inhabitants. The planet’s AI software and battle machines were constructed over thousands of years to aid in the invasion of Earth. However, the technology required for a ship to penetrate Sempiria’s atmosphere without being disabled by its unique properties could not be figured out.  Jordan is forced to watch as each of her companions is shot in the head by Luis. She begs to know why he is doing this. Luis informs her that she was never meant to be here, which is why he didn’t call her to come. He used the presence of his former partners on the planet as a means to an end.

It’s revealed that Luis informed Galactipol that 4 of the 5 Aces would be on Sempiria, and a fleet of police ships equipped with EMP countermeasures arrive on the planet. Luis has an affection for Jordan, so he orders the Sempirisms to hold her while they fight Galactipol and take their ships. Jordan escapes, and the final act has the player tearing through a war zone between the two sides, eventually leading to Jordan chasing Luis down and killing him while operating a giant tank. Luis’ dying words are to ask Jordan to continue his work, that the Sempirians deserve to see their home again. The player has the choice to use the tank to destroy the Sempirian robots, leaving them defenseless to be slaughtered by the Galactipol… or to destroy the Galactipol ships. After one of the two choices is made, you will find Luis’ old ship and fly into space, the ending depends on which choice you made.

It’s not official at all! What is suspicious is what Hideo Kojima posted on Twitter. His face is being scanned with a 360-degree camera, and he captioned the post #Intergalactic. This has led many to believe that the Japanese genius will make a cameo appearance in Naughty Dog’s follow-up, as he has previously met the game’s director, Druckmann…
