Physint is just one of the many projects Hideo Kojima is working on, but it’s the one that’s still a long way from the finish line.
Kojima took to Twitter to share just how busy he’s been this year, and also touched on the status of his three major projects (Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, OD, aka Overdose, and Physint): “Thank you for all your support in 2024. It has been a year full of many things: The development of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, the release of our second trailer, ADR for the actors, music production and recording, and Japanese voice recording. In the summer, we started playing and building the game. We also had a stage event at the Tokyo Game Show for the first time in 5 years. For OD, we developed the game and had the actors and environment scanned. In the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Casting for Physint was also suspended due to the strike. We hope to resume next year.
Personally, I had an ongoing series of essays published in anan and Nikkei newspaper, radio programs on Hide Radio and KOJI10, a special episode of HideoTube, and also the Hidemys 2024 book fair, which I almost gave up on. I continued to comment on movies and novels, though less than usual. Preparations and planning for the live-action Death Stranding movie with A24 and other adaptations are underway. I signed with WME. We also held a Death Stranding exhibition at Shibuya PARCO (Nagoya and Osaka will be held next year). It was a year that flew by. Thank you for your support over the past year. Have a great new year,” Kojima wrote.

Physint was announced by Sony during the State of Play last January, and will essentially be the PlayStation-exclusive spiritual sequel to Metal Gear. Not much has been revealed about it so far, so we’ll have to wait a long time to find out more. For that to happen, the SAG-AFTRA strike would have to end…
But that’s not up to him!
