Skyblivion: Exciting Mod Release Coming Soon! [VIDEO]

TESRenewal isn’t far from the finish line, and considering how long they’ve been working on this very ambitious mod, maybe we can wait that long.

Skyblivion is shaping up to be a big project, as the modding team has taken The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and transplanted it into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. They’ve been working on the mod in earnest since 2018, but the project started over 11 years ago. In the latest video (embedded below), we get some new news about the state of Skyblivion.

The team says they are almost ready to release a fully remastered The Elder Scrolls episode. 93% of the “cells” in the land area are now complete, but only 44% of them have been navel-gazed. It’s a process that tells NPCs (non-playable characters) what parts of the area they can move around in. There is still a long way to go in this area, so the developers need volunteers to work with them to get Skyblivion over the finish line. You can sign up on their website if you have enough modding experience and want to help TESRenewal.

Skyblivion will not include any material from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion add-ons at launch: “We are currently focusing on the main game experience to ensure it is released on time. Once the main game of Skyblivion is released, we will look at how we approach DLC and we will be sure to share more information on our next steps closer to that time. We’re less than a year away from our target release date for Skyblivion,” the modders say.

So Skyblivion will arrive sometime in 2025, which is not the same as what Bethesda has been working on. The publisher has leaked several games in the past, and we’ve heard that a remaster (remake?) of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is in the pipeline, along with remasters of Fallout 3 and Dishonored. Of course, none of these have materialized yet.

So Skyblivion is not that far away…
