MOVIE NEWS – Imagine heading to a supermarket to grab some essentials – maybe grumble about organic egg prices – when a fight suddenly breaks out. You step in to intervene, only for one of the fighters to realize you’re a global icon. That’s exactly what happened to Spider-Man star Tom Holland, who credits his celebrity status for calming the chaos.
Known for his roles in the MCU, Holland, who’s starred in three Spider-Man films and appeared in Avengers and Captain America, shared the story in a recent interview with Men’s Health. The 28-year-old actor recounted how the brawl unfolded at a Whole Foods in Los Angeles, and how his intervention took an unexpected turn when one of the fighters recognized him.
“They were at it right behind me. One of them looked at me, and I could tell he knew who I was. You could almost see the gears turning: ‘I’m furious, but Spider-Man is telling me to stop.’ So, yes, I shop at supermarkets,” Holland joked.
While Holland didn’t disclose the argument’s cause, it could’ve been anything from a petty dispute to rising lettuce costs. Regardless, he managed to de-escalate the situation. Can you imagine being the guy Spider-Man tells to calm down? He probably felt like a jerk afterward – though we wouldn’t be surprised if he asked for a selfie.
Tom Holland’s Packed 2025 Schedule
Following his critically panned 2023 series The Crowded Room, Holland is gearing up for a comeback with two major films in 2025. One of them, Spider-Man 4, will explore the aftermath of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The movie focuses on Holland’s character embracing his superhero persona while stepping back from Peter Parker’s life. Filming is set to begin mid-year, with a July 24, 2026 release date.
The second project is Christopher Nolan’s ambitious adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson, the film is expected to begin production this year. It’s slated for release on July 17, 2026, setting up a Holland-vs.-Holland box office battle.
Although 2024 saw little from the actor, 2025 already looks promising, setting the stage for what could be a blockbuster 2026. As for future grocery store visits? That’s anyone’s guess.
