Sony’s Plans to Revive Smaller Game Titles? [VIDEO]

The PlayStation brand has been pretty secretive lately, and when you think about it, you don’t really hear much about what the PlayStation Studios teams are working on these days… maybe that’s no coincidence.

We’ve previously reported that the head of PlayStation Studios and one of the brand’s co-CEOs (Hermen Hulst) has said that Sony won’t be ignoring its older intellectual properties, and that since PlayStation has been around for thirty years, the company has had time to put together a number of IPs that were once hugely popular, and now there’s no news at all.

Speaking on the VGC podcast, Andy Robinson, the site’s editor-in-chief, said that he had heard from within Sony that the “blues” were looking to bring back more of the older IP. Without going into details, he’s heard a few things, and here it’s the old-school IPs that come to mind. Yes, but let’s not forget that Sony has been moving away from what the public wants in recent years. As a result, we fear that the company will bring back IPs that the public wasn’t expecting, and it may seem rather random that Mr. Mosquito, for example, will get some sort of revival. (Who remembers that PS2 game? That was just a random example!)

On Reddit, Sony might also want to consider the statement made by one of the commenters. They wrote that Sly Cooper has become the highest rated PlayStation Network game on PlayStation 5, and that Sony should do something about this high interest. Let’s not forget that the thieving raccoon in Sly Cooper 4 got an incredibly horrible ending. A bit harsh to say the least, but seriously, they ended it on a cliffhanger and then ignored the IP again? It’s a little ridiculous, right?

Just don’t end up taking their Super Smash Bros. clone, PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and make a sequel out of it. Because if they just do that, it would be ridiculous…
