Helldivers 2: Arrowhead Game Studios Prioritizes Player Experience!

Greed is not the studio’s goal for the second installment of Helldivers, but the team has a much more correct approach.

Helldivers 2 got off to a good start last year, but the mandatory nature of PlayStation Network accounts means that Arrowhead Game Studios’ games are not available for purchase in many countries and regions, and Sony has learned nothing from mandatory PSN accounts, having made them mandatory for all PC ports of its games. This doesn’t seem to bother Arrowhead, who have recently added vehicles, urban areas and melee weapons to the game in addition to Illuminate.

With so much content already appearing in the live service model, it’s no wonder players are asking when Arrowhead will start making DLC. Jorjani, the studio’s CEO, and Pilestedt, the studio’s creative director, have been quite active on social media and the Discord server lately, so the two have been answering a lot of questions. Pilestedt has written that the studio will never put enemies or game-related elements behind a paywall, as Arrowhead Game Studios does not want to divide the gaming community.

This was in response to a question from a fan, JayIgnition. He suggested that Arrowhead Game Studios make a DLC that would add a new faction to Helldivers 2, and that it would have new mission types. For this DLC he would pay 15 GBP (about $18) and Pilestedt replied. Jorjani recently said that the studio is not against selling items, but only if it benefits the players and not just the developers’ wallets.

So the lesson to be learned is that Arrowhead Game Studios is not just trying to line their own pockets with Helldivers 2. The only way to have DLC like this is if it’s something that the public wants.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
