Nintendo Switch 2: Will the New Device Feature a Larger Charger?

The device was partially shown because it wasn’t the real thing that was brought to the tech industry’s E3 event, but that’s still suspicious.

Laura Kate Dale shared the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, where we can see the input and output voltage information. Other details have been obscured, presumably to protect the leaker, as Nintendo tends to react very aggressively to such leaks. In any case, if the image is authentic, the Nintendo Switch 2 dock will come with a 60W charger, so the current charging cable will not be supported on the next-generation hardware.

However, that’s about the only thing that hasn’t been leaked about the platform, as the Nintendo Switch 2 leak stream has been going strong for the past two weeks. We’ve already seen the dock, the motherboard, and even the new Joy-Con controllers (all of which we covered), and we’ve also learned that the controllers will double as a PC mouse. Samsung is manufacturing Nvidia’s Tegra T239 chip, but the manufacturing process is still unknown. It will presumably be an 8-nanometer system-on-a-chip (SoC), as this would make it easier to use Nvidia’s Ampere architecture.

An accessory company is showing off a replica of what it calls an authentic Nintendo Switch 2 behind closed doors at CES. The accompanying image (from German publication Netzwelt) shows the replica, and is Genki’s way of showing visitors what controllers and docking station it plans to include with its yet-to-be-announced big N. According to Netzwelt, the Switch 2 is larger and the Joy-Cons can be removed from the side rather than the top, possibly due to the magnetic connection. An additional unmarked button has also appeared on the right Joy-Con controller.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially unveiled by the big N at the end of March. We’ve also heard rumors of a Q1 and Q2 release date, so it could be out by the end of March or June…
