More than two years after it was announced, Splash Damage has canceled this online co-op action game as the team moves on to other projects…
Splash Damage announced Transformers: Reactivate back in December 2022, but with the studio downsizing to a smaller size to focus on other projects, many people could soon lose their jobs, so this team isn’t off to a great start in 2025, and who knows how many thousands will lose their jobs this year, as many were forced to leave last year.

“Today we have some very difficult news to share with you, the decision has been made to end development of Transformers: Reactivate. This means that we will be downsizing in order to focus our efforts on other projects. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, a number of positions across the studio are now at risk of potential layoffs. This decision was not made lightly, and it is a difficult time for the studio and our employees. We want to take a moment to thank the Transformers team for their dedication and passion.
Hasbro has been an incredible and supportive partner throughout, and we hope to work with them again. To the many fans, your excitement and support helped keep us going. While not being able to see the game through to release is painful, saying goodbye to friends and colleagues hurts even more. We’re now focused on doing everything we can to support them through this difficult time, just as we’re committed to taking care of those who remain with us as we build a stronger Splash Damage for the future. Thank you for your sympathy and understanding,” Splash Damage wrote.
The British studio’s first project was the 2002 multiplayer title Return to Castle Wolfenstein, followed by Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory one year later. They also produced Enemy Territory: Quake Wars in 2007 and Brink in 2011. What’s striking is that they haven’t done much in the last few years, and it’s starting to catch up with them.
