The Belgian team is trying their best to work on their next game, and part of that will include Larian going quiet on social media.
Larian is working on two big projects at the same time. We don’t know much about either, but it’s safe to say that neither is related to Baldur’s Gate or Dungeons & Dragons (BG is based on that IP). Larian’s Swen Vincke has previously stated that the games will be substantial and that they will aim to raise the bar in terms of quality. One project is codenamed Excalibur, and the studio warns that it’s not what we think it is, but it will be an RPG, whatever it turns out to be.
But that doesn’t stop Larian from moving forward with Baldur’s Gate 3. Even though the game was released over a year ago (and we wrote that it had a bigger player base in 2024 than it did in 2023!), it continues to receive hefty updates, and now the studio is working on an update that will add 12 new character subclasses, cross-play (meaning PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC users can play together) and a photo mode to Baldur’s Gate 3 later this year.
Got me all nostalgic – it really has been a incredible journey so far. But the story ain’t over yet. Stay tuned. Going to try to skip the dark night of the soul moment though if you don’t mind. https://t.co/eLSTv3CXb4

A Larian spokesperson told VideoGamer that Swen Vincke and his team are fully focused on the studio’s next game. We won’t be hearing about it for a long time, though, as the team will be stepping away from social media to focus all their energy on development. So we have to be patient in case someone slips up on Twitter. One thing is for sure, Vincke is strongly committed to making the studio’s best work yet. “It made me very nostalgic. It really has been an incredible journey so far. But the story isn’t over yet. Stay tuned. We’ll try to skip the dark night of the soul moment if you don’t mind,” Vincke wrote on Twitter.
So let’s be patient!
