TECH NEWS – The head of Meta (who essentially kneeled to Donald Trump, the re-elected President of the United States) believes that iPhone sales are declining every year…
Zuck made changes to Facebook’s fact-checking system last week. Previously, professional fact-checkers oversaw everything, but now a community-driven approach (a la Elon Musk’s Twitter) will be used, which has sparked controversy over the accuracy and reliability of information. Zuckerberg certainly made such a sudden turnaround to curry favor with Trump. Then Zuck talked about it on a podcast while he was jumping into Apple with both feet…
The conflict between Meta and Apple began in 2022. Apple’s App Store policy prevented Meta from collecting user data and influencing the target audience for its platform ads. Since then, Zuck has been a constant critic of Apple’s rules as well as the Cupertino-based company’s business strategy. And he hasn’t stopped criticizing Apple on Joe Rogan’s podcast. He also talked about how information is now being handled by users, and the criticism he’s received for it. While he justified and shared his confidence in his approach, he also explained that he believes Apple hasn’t done anything great or significant in recent years, and attacked them for lack of motivation: “They haven’t really invented anything great in a long time. It’s like Steve Jobs invented the iPhone and now they’re sitting on it 20 years later. And they actually, I think year over year, I’m not even sure they sell more iPhones at this point. I think the sales might actually be declining,” Zuckerberg said.
Others have also criticized Apple’s increasing focus on incremental improvements rather than breakthroughs. As a result of the slow pace of innovation, Zuck suggested that users will continue to hold on to their devices and that the Cupertino tech giant’s revenue will decline as a result. According to him, the explanation for the revenue growth achieved despite this is that Apple is able to maintain revenue through in-app purchases and a 30 percent commission on accessories.
Let’s not forget that Apple was dethroned by Nvidia, making it the most valuable company in the world. For this reason, Zuck’s comment must have struck a nerve, but I’m sure he’s just trying to deflect attention from the criticism he’s been receiving lately for moving to a community-driven model…
