Nintendo Switch 2 Leakers Slammed by Hideki Kamiya: ‘The Lowest of the Low’

NINTENDO NEWS – After months of speculation, Nintendo officially revealed the Switch 2 yesterday. While fans are celebrating the announcement, Hideki Kamiya has directed his frustration at the leakers who spoiled the surprise, with some colorful curses thrown in for good measure.

The legendary developer, known for Devil May Cry, Okami, and Bayonetta, didn’t hold back his contempt for those responsible for leaking details about the Switch 2 prior to its reveal (via Eurogamer). “I hope all those who leaked information about the Switch 2 or helped spread it are cursed to always have poop on their shoes when they get home,” he declared.

While the statement might be tongue-in-cheek, the imaginative curse is certainly one way to express frustration. But Kamiya didn’t stop there.

“These damn leakers act purely for their own selfish satisfaction,” Kamiya continued. “Not only do they fail to benefit anyone, but they cause significant losses and have no achievements to show. They’re the scum of the earth and should be smeared in filth and thrown into space.”

Leaks about the Switch 2 surfaced just days before its official announcement, with blurry images circulating online. Although the photos didn’t give away much, they spoiled the element of surprise. Former PR professionals speculated about the morale impact at Nintendo, with one remarking: “I’m sure the team is furious right now, at the highest level of anger” (via GamesRadar).

It’s not surprising that Nintendo would be upset, but Kamiya’s reaction certainly steals the show. He added: “Leakers hold positions of responsibility and access privileged information, but their actions are driven by a filthy desire for recognition. They are shameful individuals who should be stopped immediately.”

His strong words reflect the frustration shared by many developers who have dealt with leaks. Studios like Bungie have taken extreme measures to identify those responsible, once tracking a leaker by matching icons in a screenshot to known accounts. While such efforts can stop individuals, leaks remain a persistent challenge.

The gaming industry has seen significant leaks in recent years, including the early release of the GTA 6 trailer, The Sims 5 screenshots, and Sony accidentally revealing a Destiny 2 expansion. Despite the frustration and Kamiya’s vivid curse, leaks are unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
