According to game director Charles Benoit, the main storyline will take approximately 50 hours to complete, with additional side content pushing the total playtime to around 100 hours.

The Assassin’s Creed series is renowned for its sprawling adventures and content-rich worlds, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues this tradition. New details have surfaced about the depth and scope of the game’s open world. It was already confirmed that the map size will be comparable to AC Origins and that players can control two protagonists. Charles Benoit shared details about the game’s duration in an interview with Vandal. While earlier comparisons to Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla gave a general idea of its length, these comparisons were overly broad since each game in the series has progressively increased in playtime. Thankfully, it has now been confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ main campaign can be completed in roughly 50 hours.

However, those who want to fully experience the game by exploring Japan in its entirety and completing all side quests will need closer to 100 hours. This suggests that while the gameplay structure may feel familiar to the last two entries, it’s still too early to say for certain.

Expansions for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has confirmed that two story expansions are in development for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Players who pre-order the game will receive the first DLC, The Claws of Awaji, for free. This expansion, slated for release in 2025, offers approximately 10 hours of additional gameplay. It takes Yasuke and Naoe to a mysterious island filled with deadly traps and formidable enemies. Players will acquire new abilities, equipment, and skills to face these challenges head-on.
