“He said things he shouldn’t have.” It seems Rockstar has removed an interview stating that GTA 6 won’t surpass 30 FPS on consoles. Mike York, a former developer at the company, may have revealed more than he should have.
The wait for GTA 6 feels endless. Every passing month without new announcements drives players to frustration, fueling conspiracy theories and speculation. Meanwhile, former Rockstar employees continue to leak tidbits about the game’s mechanics, design, and—like in this case—its console performance. Just 24 hours ago, Mike York, an ex-developer who worked on GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, claimed that GTA 6 likely won’t reach 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, that interview has since vanished. The reason? Rockstar had it taken down.
York, who worked on animation for Rockstar’s last two open-world games, told content creator Kiwi Talkz that the game will run “locked at 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S,” sparking intense debate. His comments dismissed the possibility of a performance mode and suggested that Rockstar’s open world might overwhelm current consoles.
Unfortunately at the request of Mike, I have had to take down my latest interview, apologies everyone. I will have an awesome podcast guest next week though, so watch this space. https://t.co/hUDrGGQnvb

Just hours later, the interview mysteriously disappeared from Kiwi Talkz’s channel. The host later explained on social media that Rockstar’s legal team had stepped in, instructing York to have the video removed. “Apparently, he said things he shouldn’t have,” the host tweeted.
“Unfortunately, at Mike’s request, I had to remove my latest interview. My apologies to everyone,” he added. While no official explanation has been given, Rockstar’s swift response suggests the company is keeping a tight lid on GTA 6 details.
Former Developer Says Even High-End PCs Will Struggle With GTA 6
York’s statements stirred controversy, especially since he claimed GTA 6 wouldn’t exceed 30 FPS even on the newly announced PlayStation 5 Pro. He also suggested that the PC version might hover around 40-50 FPS, improving only with future hardware like NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 50 series. His remarks have sparked a massive debate among fans.
As hype for GTA 6 continues to grow, Rockstar remains tight-lipped. Speculation suggests a second trailer could drop in early 2025, while others debate whether the game could launch with a $100 price tag. The removal of Mike York’s interview only reinforces Rockstar’s strict secrecy policy, ensuring no premature leaks reveal crucial information.
