Commandos: Origins Arrives on Older Consoles Too!

Claymore Game Studios and Kalyspo Media are already developing the new Commandos as a cross-generation game, but versions for the 2013 console generation will be released later.

Commandos: Origins will be available in Basic and Deluxe editions. Purchased digitally, it will cost €50 on PC, €60 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, while the Deluxe version will cost €60 on PC and €70 on both current-gen consoles. The deluxe version will include six iconic Commando skins adapted from Commandos 2, a 3D printable Green Beret schematic, a fifteen-song soundtrack, and a digital calendar. The physical edition will not be released for PC, only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. It will cost 60 euros and you will get all the content of the deluxe edition.

You have been chosen for a mission that will determine the fate of the entire world. Witness the early days of the legendary World War II elite force in Commandos: Origins. The long-awaited sequel to the Commandos series takes you back to the very beginnings of the real-time tactics genre. And to the days when Jack O’Hara, the Green Beret, and his five companions met to form the infamous unit sent to complete missions no other would dare.

In the silent shadows of history’s most pivotal moments, where heroes are born and legends are forged, a new chapter awaits. From daring raids to covert sabotage to courageous rescue missions, the Green Beret, the Sapper, the Sniper, the Driver, the Marine, and the Spy must combine their skills to accomplish the most challenging tasks. Their mission can only be accomplished through thoughtful planning and the clever combination of stealth and destruction that comes with the unique skills of this elite force. From the frozen plains of the Arctic to the vast deserts of Africa, from the western shores of Europe to the Eastern Front, it’s up to you to lead your commandos to success in high-stakes missions. Guide them in their fight against the growing Nazi occupation that threatens the free world.

Use the unique abilities of your Commandos to infiltrate enemy facilities and hit them where it hurts most before disappearing into the shadows in challenging real-time tactical stealth gameplay with an extraordinary team. Featuring six infamous characters, each with their own storied history, who come together to form an extraordinary fighting force – the Commandos: Take control of Jack O’Hara “the Green Beret”, Thomas “the Sapper” Hancock, Francis T. “the Sniper” Woolridge, Samuel “the Driver” Brooklyn, James “the Marine” Blackwood and Rene “the Spy” Duchamp and lead them to success.

The detailed, varied and interactive environments offer multiple ways to reach your goal. Sneak, climb, drive various vehicles, or hide and sneak your way to mission success! The game offers a modern user experience with precise and intuitive controls that allow you to direct the commandos with expert precision. Coordinate complex simultaneous actions to take out heavily fortified targets. Play through more than 10 missions in historically authentic WWII environments ranging from the barren Arctic to the African desert, with a range of core and optional objectives that require your full tactical expertise. But there is no me in team: Take on missions with a friend in two-player cooperative multiplayer, either online or via local split-screen.

“The Green Beret couldn’t have said it better with his iconic phrase, ‘Consider it done. After more than four years of setting up a new studio, design and development, and invaluable community feedback from multiple playtests, Operation ‘Release’ is a go for Commandos: Origins. We are proud and excited that players will now be able to experience the origin story of the elite unit that started this legendary franchise,” said Claymore Game Studios studio head Jürgen Reusswig in the press release.

Commandos: Origins will be released on April 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (it was March when it was delayed…), and the two consoles will get the disc edition on May 22. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not yet planned as target platforms, but will be released for them sometime this year.
