Battlefield Veteran Says the Next Shooter Won’t Repeat Past Mistakes

“You’ll have to play to see what I mean,” says a Battlefield veteran about the upcoming shooter, promising it will avoid past mistakes at all costs. David Sirland, Battlefield’s lead producer, says DICE is committed to bringing the best elements from previous games into the next FPS while ensuring past missteps aren’t repeated.

For years, the Battlefield series has been one of the premier multiplayer shooters, offering large-scale warfare unlike anything else in the genre. While anticipation for the next Battlefield title is high, the community still remembers the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042, a game that left thousands of players disappointed due to technical issues, missing features, and a general lack of polish. Now, all eyes are on DICE and its partner studios, as they attempt to restore the franchise’s former glory.

We already know that Battlefield is gearing up for a major comeback, and EA has revealed some new details about the upcoming shooter. The project, developed by DICE, EA Motive, Ripple Effect, and Criterion Games, is designed to bring all of these studios’ expertise into a single game. However, Electronic Arts must learn from its past mistakes and ensure that they don’t repeat them, which means carefully reviewing what has and hasn’t worked in the franchise’s history.

David Sirland, lead producer on Battlefield, recently took to X/Twitter to assure fans that the team is “very aware of the things that weren’t well received in the last game, the one before that, and even earlier titles” and that they are “looking for the best possible strategy for every area” to refine the experience. Sirland insists that “you’ll have to play to understand” exactly what changes they’ve made.

What to Expect from the Next Battlefield

One thing is clear: the developers are focused on delivering top-tier destruction mechanics, improved weapon handling, fluid movement, and more. At the same time, DICE is actively removing gameplay elements that didn’t work in past entries. Additionally, EA has hinted that the next Battlefield game’s release could be adjusted based on the launch of GTA 6, meaning it might be moved forward or delayed depending on Rockstar’s schedule.
