Ubisoft is already seeing massive success with Assassin’s Creed Shadows – pre-orders are on par with the second best-selling AC game

Ubisoft has already scored a major win with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The company reports that pre-orders are tracking in line with the second best-selling game in the series. That title is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which means Assassin’s Creed Shadows is off to a strong start.

With almost 40 days left until launch, Assassin’s Creed Shadows promises to be a defining chapter for the franchise. Set in feudal Japan, this open-world action-adventure blends stealth and hand-to-hand combat, with protagonists Naoe and Yasuke leading the way. Ubisoft is betting big, not just aiming to surpass previous successes but to redefine the series’ future.

Months ago, Ubisoft hinted at strong pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but didn’t share specifics. Now, CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed during the company’s latest financial report that pre-orders are “solid,” matching those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which ranks as the franchise’s second best-selling entry.

Currently, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla holds the top spot as the best-selling game in the series, but Odyssey isn’t far behind in total units sold. According to franchise expert JorRaptor, Ubisoft revealed that Odyssey has reached over 40 million players, with more than 10 million of those coming from direct sales. It’s worth noting that these games have been featured in subscription services like Ubisoft+, PlayStation Plus Extra, and Xbox Game Pass, making them accessible to a vast audience.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will run at 60 FPS on consoles

Just a few days ago, Ubisoft shared more technical details and confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will support 60 FPS and 4K resolution on consoles. On PC, the game will include extensive upscaling technologies such as Intel XeSS 2, AMD FSR 3.1, and NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, alongside ray tracing enhancements for textures and lighting. However, Ubisoft has stated that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not be Steam Deck-compatible at launch, though support may arrive a few weeks later.
