It carries the energy of classics like The Sopranos and King of New York. It’s got a scale and a pace that, for various reasons, Netflix couldn’t fully explore.”

Daredevil: Born Again is being heavily promoted as a grittier, bloodier take on the original while positioning itself as a direct rival to another acclaimed superhero show. The showrunner directly compares it to HBO’s The Penguin but insists that Born Again sets itself apart in key ways: “We’re a little faster, meaner, and sharper in our storytelling.” Meeting expectations set by Netflix’s show is one thing, but it seems Born Again is aiming even higher.
