The Punisher Officially Returns in Action-Packed ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Teaser [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Although marketed as a completely new show, it’s hard not to see Daredevil: Born Again as a continuation of Netflix’s original series. Disney+ has released a fresh teaser that finally brings Jon Bernthal back in his legendary Punisher role, marking his first appearance since 2019, when The Punisher Season 2 debuted on Netflix. Additionally, the streamer has confirmed how many episodes will drop on March 4, and fans will be thrilled to see Daredevil making a triumphant return.

A new TV spot for Daredevil: Born Again showcases an array of action-packed footage, with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) taking on various foes. The biggest surprise? Frank Castle, once again donning the signature Punisher skull emblem and his iconic long trench coat, last seen in The Punisher Season 2 finale. Despite a significant time gap and a host of new characters, the Disney+ revival seems to maintain a strong connection to its Netflix predecessor. The teaser also introduces White Tiger, another vigilante operating in the crime-ridden streets of New York.

The teaser confirms that Daredevil: Born Again will kick off on Disney+ on March 4 with a two-episode premiere. The season will likely follow a weekly release format, with its nine-episode run wrapping up sooner than initially anticipated. Originally set for 18 episodes, Marvel Studios is already deep into filming Season 2 in New York.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Takes the Grit Even Further

Daredevil: Born Again will borrow elements from the Netflix show, but the creative minds behind the revival are determined to make it a unique experience. Showrunner Dario Scardapane is a fan of the original but has hinted that Born Again will push the darker elements even further. He describes Netflix’s Daredevil as a noir, while this new series leans harder into crime drama.

“I truly feel that Netflix’s Daredevil, which I know in my bones, was much more noir, whereas this show is a straight-up New York crime story. It carries the energy of classics like The Sopranos and King of New York. It’s got a scale and a pace that, for various reasons, Netflix couldn’t fully explore.”

New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Merchandise to Drop Soon

Daredevil: Born Again is being heavily promoted as a grittier, bloodier take on the original while positioning itself as a direct rival to another acclaimed superhero show. The showrunner directly compares it to HBO’s The Penguin but insists that Born Again sets itself apart in key ways: “We’re a little faster, meaner, and sharper in our storytelling.” Meeting expectations set by Netflix’s show is one thing, but it seems Born Again is aiming even higher.
