It hasn’t even launched yet, but a new Xbox RPG has already climbed to the top of Steam’s best-sellers thanks to early access. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, this fantasy RPG officially releases tomorrow, but its Premium Edition has given players access since February 14, skyrocketing its sales figures.
Just days before its official launch, Obsidian Entertainment’s latest action RPG has already reached a major milestone on Steam. Set in the fantasy world of Eora, the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, this game has already landed among the platform’s best-sellers.
According to ScreenRant, the title reached the number three spot on Steam’s global best-sellers list this week, surpassing highly anticipated games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds. In the U.S. market, it even secured the top spot, overtaking Sid Meier’s Civilization 7. This feat is especially impressive considering that the game hasn’t officially launched yet.
The success is largely due to the incentives of the Premium Edition, which allowed players to access the game starting February 14. The anticipation surrounding this release has driven massive pre-order numbers. However, as early access progresses and the official release nears, the title has now settled at fifth place in global sales rankings and ninth in Spain.
Obsidian’s Reputation Drives Success
While the game has received positive early impressions, its incredible pre-launch sales suggest that Obsidian Entertainment’s reputation plays a key role in its success. The studio, known for fan-favorite RPGs like Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity, has cultivated a dedicated fanbase eagerly awaiting their next big adventure.
With such strong pre-order performance and early access already rolling out, this RPG is shaping up to be one of the biggest launches of Q1 2025. The real test will come once it reaches the general public on February 18, but for now, the sales figures speak for themselves.
