The Return of Dawnwalker: A Classic Element from Morrowind!

The new game from the director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will allow you to do something you were able to do in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

There have been times when you could kill anyone in a game, whether it was a companion, a romantic interest, a tyrannical father figure, or a key NPC (non-playable character) in the story. You could do that in Morrowind, but later in Fallout: New Vegas, you could kill them all. Obsidian’s game changed the story in response to these changes, and Bethesda Game Studios’ creation flashed a card saying it was not recommended.

It’s a rarity these days. If someone is important, they’re usually invulnerable, or at most can be knocked out for a short time. The Blood of Dawnwalker will not follow that example. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz (The Witcher 3’s director) and his brother Mateusz (The Witcher 3’s quest lead) were interviewed by GamesRadar about Rebel Wolves. According to them, there will be a lot of NPCs to kill, including some very important characters. Since you’re controlling a creature of the night, this even sounds somewhat logical.

It’s a big change from The Witcher 3, and the developers say they’re doing it because it’s going to be a sandbox experience and they want to maximize the choices in their game. They added that they are also putting a lot of emphasis on storytelling, interesting characters, and lots of backstory. There will be consequences for killing important characters. There may be alternate outcomes or certain questlines may become inaccessible. At night, of course, we will be out for blood, and if we are not careful, these NPCs may die as a result. So our character can go “overboard” and become uncontrollable? We’ll see.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. We don’t know the release date yet, but we do know what the dark fantasy action-RPG will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC.
