One fan of Obsidian Entertainment’s game is tired of waiting and has taken matters into his own hands.
Fallout: New Vegas has been out for nearly 15 years. Now, there are those who would like to see it remade (as both Obsidian and Bethesda Game Studios are owned by Microsoft, so there’s no legal obstacle), and one fan has taken a step we never dreamed possible. He didn’t choose Unreal Engine or Unity as his “base”!
FalloutPropMaster is a Fallout: New Vegas modder, and he has taken it upon himself to recreate the game in The Sims 2. That game came out six years ago, and it’s not about destroying Deathclaws at all. The project is called The Sims 2: New Vegas, and the modder wants to implement content that we saw in the internal beta, but then Obsidian cut out of the game. But why not put that content back in Fallout: New Vegas?
FalloutPropMaster responded by saying that he saw some casinos in The Sims 2 that were adapted from Obsidian’s game with the construction tools, and that was his inspiration. He added that he has played Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, but has no experience with The Sims. He uses FOMM, Blender, Nifscope, and other tools. The project has grown rapidly in a week. The New Vegas Strip blueprint, the ongoing build of Goodsprings, and some unique New Vegas UI tests have all surfaced so far, and it turns out that the mod uses the same stat strips and behaviors as Maxis’ life sim. So it’s more of a New Vegas colony simulation…
Anyway, it sounds pretty absurd that Fallout: New Vegas is being reimagined in this game. If it was in Fallout 3, it would be understandable, but whatever. Good luck with the project!
