MOVIE NEWS – Daredevil: Born Again is just about to land on Disney+ with its highly anticipated first season, but fans might not have to wait long for the next chapter. While Marvel Studios initially announced an 18-episode season back in 2022, the series was later split into two nine-episode seasons. With the first part arriving in 2025—ten years after the original Daredevil series debuted on Netflix—many assumed there would be a long gap between seasons. However, the latest update suggests that won’t be the case, marking a major shift in how Marvel approaches its Disney+ projects.
In an interview with Screen Rant’s Liam Crowley, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to release in 2026, just one year after the first. When asked whether Marvel intended to make the show a recurring, annual release, Winderbaum simply replied: “That’s the plan. Season 2 will arrive next year.” He also hinted that they were already discussing a potential third season, signaling that Daredevil could become Marvel’s first long-term, live-action Disney+ series instead of a limited-run project. “Hopefully, Season 3 and an infinite number after that. This world is incredibly rich, and there are so many stories waiting to be told on the streets of New York,” he added.
Marvel’s New Strategy for Disney+ Shows
With production on Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 set to begin soon, a 2026 release is looking more and more likely. Interestingly, this timing would mirror the pattern of the first season, which debuts ten years after Daredevil Season 1 on Netflix. If Marvel sticks to this schedule, it could become only the second live-action MCU Disney+ series to receive a second season, following Loki. However, while Loki had a two-year gap between seasons, the fastest turnaround time for any MCU Disney+ series so far has been between What If…? Seasons 2 and 3, which aired just a year apart.
Marvel Studios has been re-evaluating its approach to television in recent months. When the MCU’s Disney+ slate first launched, the focus was mainly on limited series like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, this format received criticism, as many fans felt the series functioned more like extended movies split into segments. In shows like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Ms. Marvel, and Moon Knight, the lack of follow-up seasons left several character arcs unresolved. Now, Marvel is pivoting toward multi-season series, with a goal of making them annual events so that audiences aren’t left waiting years to revisit their favorite characters.
Where Does Daredevil: Born Again Fit in the MCU’s Timeline?
The biggest question now is whether Daredevil: Born Again will stick to a March 2026 release window. If so, it would be the final MCU project before Avengers: Doomsday. Alternatively, if it premieres in May, it would place the series alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 as one of the few confirmed MCU titles set between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. While Charlie Cox has denied his involvement in the next Avengers film, Marvel has emphasized that Matt Murdock is one of the key recurring characters throughout the Multiverse Saga. This could mean that he will have a minor role in Avengers: Doomsday before taking on a larger role in Avengers: Secret Wars.
