Supergiant Games has confirmed that it wants to continue working with all members of the cast and crew for the Hades sequel.
Marin M. Miller, who voiced Athena, Tisiphone and Alecto in the first Hades, wrote on Bluesky that there is a chance they could be replaced because the SAG-AFTRA strike (which began in July after the union failed to negotiate acceptable terms to protect against the expansion of artificial intelligence) is still ongoing. Miller wrote that in a certain popular game, they could be fired, and if that happens, it’s not by their choice, but by the employer.
They were then rightly asked if it was a Supergiant Games game (since he didn’t name it), to which they replied that it would be SUPER helpful to write a GIANT email to the studio to stop replacing voice actors, referring to the name of the studio. SAG-AFTRA is currently offering tentative agreements between actors and employers, which the union will review and, if approved, allow for participation during the strike.
“We have not recast any of our characters in Hades II and want to continue working with each and every member of our wonderful cast. We have been, and will continue to be, respectful of any actors who need to take time off during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA video game strike. While none of our games have ever been subject to SAG-AFTRA contracts for a variety of reasons, we wish SAG-AFTRA the best in their negotiations to compel larger signatory studios to provide the kind of protections we believe actors deserve,” Supergiant Games wrote in a statement.
In February, Bungie also confirmed that the newly released Destiny 2: Heresy was missing certain dialogue elements due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, so there’s no audio, only subtitles, but the studio responded by turning on subtitles by default so players wouldn’t miss out on narrative-related content.
The protest has been going on for over six months, which is not a short time.
