Konami Strengthens Ties with Bloober Team for New Mysterious Project

Konami has made a very smart move with Bloober Team. Another new game is in development by the creators of Silent Hill 2 Remake. The Japanese company has further solidified its relationship with the Polish team for a new game based on one of its own licenses, though for now, we don’t know which one.

Poland has become one of the bastions of European development, continuing to prove itself year after year with competent teams and a vast future projection. One of these teams is Bloober Team, a studio that once received some backlash from die-hard Silent Hill fans for remaking the second installment but managed to surprise everyone. Now, after the resounding success of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Konami has made the smartest decision possible: it has strengthened its relationship with the Polish studio and signed them on for a new game based on one of its own intellectual properties.

Whatever the future holds, the relationship is stronger

Although it hasn’t been specified which franchise it is, it’s known that the new game from Bloober Team in association with Konami will be based on one of the Japanese company’s intellectual properties. Due to the success of Silent Hill 2 Remake and the studio’s experience in the horror genre, speculation is pointing to a new Silent Hill title, but this is nothing more than wishful thinking. Whatever the case, Konami will continue to act as the publisher and owner of the rights to the mysterious project, while Bloober Team moves forward with a promising future.

Piotr Babieno, the CEO of Bloober Team, reminded IGN of the close relationship the company has maintained with Konami since 2021, when they were chosen to revive Silent Hill 2, considered one of the best psychological horror titles in history. Now, five months after its release, Babieno looks back and appreciates the positive reception of the title, highlighting that the applause from both newcomers and long-time fans has been key in solidifying Bloober as a strategic partner for Konami.

The remake’s strong performance, reaching one million copies sold just days after its release and racking up awards like Game of the Year 2024 at the Horror Game Awards 2024, as well as multiple nominations at other galas, has bolstered Konami’s plans to continue expanding the franchise.

Konami still has two Silent Hill games in development

However, the Japanese company shouldn’t rest on its laurels, as it has two other projects in parallel development by two foreign teams, something that seems to be a winning strategy for Konami: Silent Hill F and Silent Hill: Townfall. Following the positive reception of Silent Hill 2 Remake, fans are eagerly awaiting these titles, hoping that the series will continue its successful resurgence.
