The Blood of Dawnwalker: NetEase Situation Won’t Affect the Game!

There’s no need to worry that the Chinese giant will mess up the new game from the developers of The Witcher 3, so NetEase’s investment won’t hurt them.

The promising action-RPG was also supported by NetEase when Rebel Wolves received funding from the Chinese in November 2022. The game was shown in more detail by the Poles in mid-January, and Coen’s adventure certainly doesn’t look bad! Tomasz Tinc, co-owner and publishing director of Rebel Wolves, responded to the high level of interest on LinkedIn by saying that NetEase is only a minority owner, and since the game already has a publisher (Bandai Namco), there is no need to fear that the Chinese company will scrap the project.

“I have also read the articles suggesting that Rebel Wolves might be in danger due to the rumored situation at NetEase. First of all, thank you for all the warm messages and wishes. The development of our game is progressing steadily, and we don’t have any financial problems. The production of The Blood of Dawnwalker is fully funded, and we are working with our partners and friends at Bandai Namco, our game’s global publisher, to bring the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga to life. The vast majority of Rebel Wolves’ ownership is in the hands of Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and other studio co-owners, all of whom are employed by Rebel Wolves. NetEase is the minority shareholder of Rebel Wolves,” said Tinc.

Players will have a number of choices to make in what the studio calls a “narrative sandbox” game. However, Rebel Wolves said not to expect a game as large in scope and length as The Witcher 3. But that’s completely understandable, considering that this is a new studio.

The game does not have a release date yet, but the developers will reveal more about The Blood of Dawnwalker later this year, and it’s sure to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
