Split Fiction Players Rejoice: A Huge Feature Is Coming at Launch!

HANDHELD NEWS – The creators of It Takes Two have thrilled thousands of fans with exciting news: Split Fiction will be fully compatible with the Steam Deck. Starting March 6, players can enjoy this cooperative adventure on Valve’s handheld device.

In less than a week, thousands of players will step into the new fantasy/sci-fi world crafted by the minds behind It Takes Two. Hazelight Studios continues to build anticipation for its upcoming title, Split Fiction, by unveiling exciting details about its cooperative features. And now, the studio has confirmed a major addition: the game will support Steam Deck from day one.

The developers shared this confirmation via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where they also highlighted a key aspect of the game’s co-op functionality: “Split Fiction is Steam Deck verified in time for launch on March 6th! Of course, it will also be Steam Native – you can invite and play with your friends directly through Steam without needing to use the EA App. Only one week left!”

This announcement underscores Hazelight Studios’ commitment to making Split Fiction its most accessible experience yet. The team has confirmed that its latest game takes the Friend’s Pass to the next level, allowing two players to enjoy the full adventure using a single copy. Additionally, a groundbreaking crossplay feature will enable players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox to play together seamlessly. This means thousands of users will be able to embody Mio and Zoe without the need for each player to purchase their own copy.

Hazelight Studios Looks Beyond Split Fiction

While Split Fiction is on the verge of release, Hazelight Studios is already mapping out its future as a game developer. This doesn’t mean that Josef Fares and his team have revealed a new project just yet, but they have made it clear what they won’t be focusing on in the coming years. Their philosophy remains unchanged: they are committed to staying independent and have firmly rejected the live-service game model.
