Ben Affleck Jokes About His Unexpected ‘The Accountant 2’ Country Dancing Scene: “Tom Cruise Can’t Touch This” [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – The Accountant 2 had its grand premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, where director Gavin O’Connor and lead actors Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, and Daniela Pineda were present. Fans have been waiting nearly ten years for this sequel, as the first installment hit theaters back in 2016. Now that audiences have finally seen the movie, it’s clear that this chapter takes a noticeably different approach—one that embraces humor in unexpected ways. Affleck himself even compared his efforts in the film to Tom Cruise’s legendary stunt work, but with a comedic twist.

Following the premiere at Austin’s Paramount Theater, the film’s cast and crew took to the stage to discuss their experience bringing the sequel to life. One of the more unexpected storylines in The Accountant 2 revolves around Christian Wolff (Affleck) trying to navigate the world of dating. In one particularly amusing scene, Chris finds himself in a country bar, where he attempts to master country-style dancing to impress a potential romantic interest. Affleck, who personally trained for the dance, couldn’t resist poking fun at his dedication:

“The real challenge for me? The months and months of training I put into learning this dance routine. It was a full-on stunt for me. Tom Cruise? He’s got nothing on my country dance skills.”

While Affleck’s joke got plenty of laughs, the film still delivers intense action sequences. With Jon Bernthal’s character, Braxton, now playing a bigger role as a reluctant ally rather than an adversary, he also gets his fair share of high-impact fight scenes.

The Accountant 2 Finds the Sweet Spot Between Action and Comedy

The original The Accountant leaned heavily into its dramatic and thriller elements, but the sequel takes a bolder approach, highlighting Affleck and Bernthal’s on-screen chemistry with a mix of comedy and action. The once-estranged brothers are now working together, unraveling a conspiracy tied to a shadowy assassin while also dealing with their own personal struggles. Whether they’re kicking back on the roof of Chris’ trailer or awkwardly attempting dance moves in a country bar, The Accountant 2 makes sure to inject humor alongside its intense action.

O’Connor and Affleck were determined to bring this sequel to life, and their efforts paid off. Rather than rehashing the formula that worked in the first film, The Accountant 2 adds a fresh, lighthearted perspective while continuing to explore its neurodivergent characters with care. And of course, there’s no shortage of shootouts and explosive action sequences.

After years of anticipation, The Accountant 2 is finally hitting theaters on April 25. If it performs well at the box office, this may not be the last time audiences see Christian and Braxton Wolff, as O’Connor has hinted at the possibility of further expanding this universe.
