Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Did Its PS5 Port’s Release Date Leak?

The US ratings board, the ESRB, has rated MachineGames and Microsoft’s game for Sony’s console; not long to wait!

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been quite confusing as to when it will be released. It was originally planned to be multiplatform, but Microsoft renegotiated with Disney (who owns LucasFilm Games) because the owner of MachineGames (who developed the game), ZeniMax Media, was acquired by the Redmond-based tech giant, so the PlayStation 5 plans were canceled. Yes, but in the meantime, Microsoft has put its multiplatform strategy into action and confirmed at Gamescom this spring that the treasure hunter will be coming to PlayStation 5… but don’t expect it until sometime in the spring of 2025.

The fact that the game has been rated by the ESRB confirms earlier rumors that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could visit Sony’s console in April. MachineGames has released many updates to the game since its release in December, although it was already in pretty good shape at launch. It now supports full ray traced shadows, path tracing works on both AMD and Intel GPUs, and AMD’s FSR 3 frame generation solution works. Ray tracing was excellent on the Xbox Series X, and it can be even better on the PlayStation 5 Pro. This may be the first game on the half-generation update to support path tracing.

But in the meantime, an almost entirely credible insider, billbil-kun, has joined the party. He wrote that he believes Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on the PlayStation 5 on April 17th. So a Thursday. Of course, they’ll use the now common practice of allowing those who buy the more expensive version to get an early start: Players who invest in the Premium Edition can start playing on Tuesday, April 15, and pre-orders will be available from March 25.

The release date is not official yet, but it seems realistic.
