Nintendo Switch 2: Players Celebrate the Move Against Scalpers

NINTENDO NEWS – The next-generation console from the big N is about to launch, and the Japanese company is trying to please the public.

The launch of a new console should be a special occasion for everyone, but there are almost always scalpers waiting to ruin the mood. They buy up the stock en masse, then resell it to desperate gamers at many times the original price, getting a good rip-off, pocketing the huge profits, and then possibly stockpiling more product later to continue the cycle…

Since the beginning of time, these people have been in the background, snapping up Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft consoles in droves from those who might want to buy a new console for themselves or their loved ones with the money they have worked so hard to earn.Fortunately, Nintendo is not taking this lying down.

Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa revealed that the company has a proven way to send scalpers packing when the Nintendo Switch 2 launches later this year. During a Q&A session with Nintendo shareholders, Furukawa offered a simple plan: make enough Nintendo Switch 2 units to stop scalpers in their tracks. If enough units are produced, no one will pay much more than the original price. It’s not the most complicated plan, but it doesn’t have to be. What’s for sure is that fans hoping to possibly pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 at launch seem confident in the plan.

On Reddit, some are happy that scalpers will be forced to sell their stock at a discount to the money they spent on it (or get stuck with the hardware). Some have written that the big N is on track to sell 7.5 million consoles at launch alone, which is staggering considering Nintendo was on track to sell a third of that, 2.5 million, for the Switch. And a third person is hoping that Nintendo doesn’t end up with 30 million unsold consoles because of its failure.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is only a week away.
