MOVIE NEWS – After Amazon took over creative control from longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the studio is accelerating plans for a James Bond reboot. The next 007 film now has a projected release window—and a staggering production budget of £250 million.
According to The Sun, efforts to bring James Bond back to theaters have picked up serious momentum in recent weeks. Amazon is reportedly fast-tracking production of the reboot, aiming for a theatrical release by late 2027. The first installment of this new era is already taking shape as the studio moves quickly to lock in a script, cast its new Bond, and hire a director.
“The Bond team had already pitched broad ideas for the reboot. Writers’ rooms are being assembled with the goal of recouping the massive investment as quickly as possible.”
Amazon reportedly spent $1 billion to acquire creative rights to the franchise—a move that ultimately convinced Broccoli to step aside. Despite growing fears among fans that Amazon will flood the market with spin-offs and side projects, sources indicate that the company understands the fan base’s primary demand: a proper cinematic Bond experience.
“Amazon’s interest in Bond was largely driven by its financial potential. Between box office sales, on-demand revenue, and licensing deals, recent Bond films have generated over a billion dollars for stakeholders.”
“Of course, the IP lends itself to streaming shows and merchandising, but they know what audiences really want. The goal is to finish filming Bond 26 by the end of 2025 to ensure a 2027 release. The project is officially in motion.”
Amazon Will Keep Bond in Theaters, Not Just Online
Many fans have voiced concern that Amazon might shift the franchise to Prime Video and away from cinemas. However, insiders insist that won’t be the case. “Amazon is a business, and Bond is a proven box-office powerhouse. There’s no plan to abandon theaters,” the source confirmed.
These developments come as rumors swirl that David Heyman (producer of the Harry Potter series) and Amy Pascal (known for the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland) have been approached to lead the reboot. While these remain unconfirmed, one thing is clear: Amazon wants the next Bond film on the big screen as soon as possible. Expect official announcements to follow shortly.
