Foldable iPhone: Its Success Depends on More Than Price!

TECH NEWS – If it’s going to have a really hefty price tag (maybe called the iPhone Ultra, maybe not), Apple will have to jump several bars.

Apple is planning to launch its foldable iPhone next year, and the latest news is that it will come with a more expensive device compared to the competition. While the foldable iPhone will be an innovation for the company, its real success would be tied to the software experience that can handle and take advantage of the larger display. Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman wrote in the Power On newsletter that the smartphone could come as early as 2026 and be priced around $2,000. He has previously reported that the company will enter the foldable market as early as next year, and his latest comments make Apple’s plans even clearer. While not certain at the moment, all recent rumors suggest that the company will launch its first foldable iPhone next year, with a significantly higher price tag than current models.

Another prominent analyst, Jeff Pu, claims that Apple’s foldable device has just entered the launch phase of the new product at Foxconn, with mass production starting in the second half of 2026. So we could see the device in stores either in late 2026 or the first half of 2027, unless Apple decides to wait a little longer. The $2,000 price tag isn’t the only one Gurman thinks the device could be priced at. Previously, Barclays Bank’s investor research notes reported that the device could cost up to $2,300 in the US, which is significantly higher than Samsung’s foldable devices. It remains to be seen whether the device will justify its price based on its features, but so far we have not heard any rumors that Apple is planning a cheap foldable device, so this could possibly be the most expensive iPhone ever.

Previously, we heard that Apple’s foldable iPhone would be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold line instead of the Flip series, with a 7.8″ (19.8 cm) internal display. The success of this device may depend on Apple’s software support and how it works with the larger foldable screen, as it will run iOS instead of iPadOS. Apple should offer a hybrid iOS-iPadOS experience, especially in the area of multitasking…

None of this is official yet!
