Log into your PS5 today, and you’ll find something surprising: four of the top ten most preordered games come from Xbox. With the arrival of Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Microsoft is now dominating the top spots on Sony’s digital storefront.
What began as a small experiment in 2024—with just a few Xbox games trickling onto PlayStation—has rapidly transformed into a larger trend. Gone are the days of porting over older titles like Sea of Thieves. This April, two major Xbox games under four years old are landing on PS5, one of which—Indiana Jones and the Great Circle—hasn’t even celebrated its first anniversary. And that bold move is paying off: Xbox now controls key positions in PlayStation 5’s preorder rankings.
Looking at the PlayStation Store, Microsoft’s release strategy is clearly working. Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle lead the preorder charts in multiple regions, including Spain. In fact, Forza Horizon 5 has become the top preordered game in territories such as Australia, Mexico, Italy, France, Germany, the UK, and Spain. In some of those markets, it even managed to surpass Assassin’s Creed Shadows in sales last week. In Spain, all three editions of Forza cracked the top 10—its deluxe and base versions even took first and third place.
Indiana Jones Climbs the Charts Just Days After PS5 Announcement
Meanwhile, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, developed by Bethesda, will release for PS5 on April 17, following its earlier debut on Xbox and PC last December. Even though its PS5 release was only confirmed 48 hours ago, the iconic archaeologist is already securing top spots in the preorder charts—ranking second and fourth in Spain and the United States, ahead of highly anticipated titles like Death Stranding 2 and The First Berserker: Khazan.
The PlayStation community has enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of these once-Xbox-exclusive titles on Sony’s platform. This shift may signal a broader trend toward more cross-platform cooperation between gaming giants. But the big question now: will other major Xbox games, like the heavily rumored Starfield, also make their way to PS5 in the near future?
