Shadow Labyrinth: It’s Not Exactly Pac-Man! [VIDEO]

Bandai Namco has put a twist on a formula that’s been around for four decades, because this isn’t the classic Pac-Man game…

A 2D action platformer, Shadow Labyrinth is a genre-bending take on the iconic Pac-Man. As Swordsman No. 8, awakened by a floating yellow orb, Puck, on a mysterious planet where relics of past wars remain, you are chosen to become the instrument of his will. To survive, you will discover many secrets, begin to hunt down your enemies, and become the apex predator as you embrace your true destiny. Explore the remnants of an ancient intergalactic conflict that began long before your arrival and discover new powers and abilities. Use them to traverse an alien world as you battle dangerous creatures and evolved monstrosities.

Master fluid combat and combine powerful abilities to create a unique play style. Use different play styles to turn the tables on your enemies as you consume them and grow from prey to apex predator. Team up with Puck and delve deeper into the labyrinth of a mysterious alien world. Discover the truth behind your presence in this world, what Puck wants, and why he chose you.

The base version of the game will cost $/€30. There will also be a deluxe version for $/€40 that includes a digital soundtrack and a digital art book. Pre-orders (regardless of version) will include the Original Arcade SFX DLC, which replaces the Mini-Puck sound effects with the original arcade Pac-Man sound effects.

Shadow Labyrinth now has a release date. Bandai Namco will release the game on July 18th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch. What can be said is that this is a huge twist on what we’ve come to expect from the small, voracious Yellow Circle, but four and a half decades later, perhaps such a turnaround was to be expected.
