TECH NEWS – Although in terms of first month sales, the South Korean company has shown better results compared to last year’s devices, in another aspect the situation is not so positive.
Samsung has had a great start with its Galaxy S25 smartphones, if the latest figures from a research company are to be believed: the latest devices have recorded more than three times the sales of the previous generation Galaxy S24 series. However, if the average sales after the end of the pre-order period is taken into account, Samsung’s phones from last year would have performed significantly better.
The latest information from Hana Securities was published on Twitter @Jukanlosreve. Samsung sold a total of 19.03 million smartphones in February. This is down 3% from January, but up 15% from February last year. Although sales were down year over year, based on first month shipments, Samsung has had a lot of success with the Galaxy S25 lineup. Of the 4.56 million Galaxy S25 shipments, the Galaxy S25 Ultra took the largest share (2.56 million), followed by the base model (1.17 million), with the Galaxy S25 Plus at the back of the pack (840,000). In comparison, the Galaxy S24 family only shipped 1.42 million units in its first month, but this difference is likely due to the different launch dates and an exact comparison would be difficult.

The data also showed that if the number of units shipped were recorded on a daily basis after the end of the pre-order period, the Galaxy S24 series would lead with 240,000 units sold, while the Galaxy S25 averaged only 180,000. While improving the specifications of the device would likely be a tactic to boost sales, early discounts could also lure buyers away from other alternatives. Earlier we heard that Samsung reportedly plans to produce 37 million units of the Galaxy S25 by 2025, which would be 2 million more than the Galaxy S24.
So the overall picture is not so positive, but it could be quite positive in time.
