Nintendo Switch 2: Only Microsoft Dared to Hit This Tone Back in 2013!

NINTENDO NEWS – The president of Nintendo’s US subsidiary has made a statement similar to the one made by the head of Xbox a few months before the launch of the Xbox One…

The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 was a positive one, but in the meantime there were some negative elements that the big N somewhat slyly hid during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. The prices of the hardware and games were not mentioned. Adding fuel to the fire was the fact that pre-orders for the console (which have been on hold since yesterday) in the US and Canada have been postponed due to Trump’s tariffs. And Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, has made a statement that will only further annoy the public. This was reported by CBC Canada.

“When we look at the Nintendo Switch 2, and you think about the feature sets that I’ve talked about … we believe the pricing is appropriate for the value of the device and the overall gaming experience. We recognize that there are some people who may not be able to afford the price of Nintendo Switch 2. That’s why we wanted to make the other Switch platforms available, so that people still have the opportunity to come into our game universe, be a part of these characters in these worlds, and see the value, if you will, in whatever rung of the platform they come in,” Bowser said.

Nintendo is a bit out of touch with itself. What’s with this comment before the launch of the Xbox One? In 2013, Don Mattrick was running Microsoft’s gaming division (he was replaced shortly thereafter and Phil Spencer took over) and there was a lot of negativity surrounding the Xbox One (requiring an internet connection, making used games impossible to play) and Microsoft backed away from it. What Mattrick said at E3: They have a product for people who can’t connect to the internet in any way called Xbox 360.

Then the Xbox One got crushed by the PlayStation 4. It might be time for a sobering slap in the face for Nintendo as well, as gamers have been almost unanimous during the big N Treehouse broadcasts that prices should be lowered…
