MOVIE NEWS – Kevin Costner’s epic Western saga Horizon has hit yet another major roadblock that could spell disaster for the entire franchise. The Oscar-winning actor-director has already poured millions of his own money into the troubled project following the financial failure of its first chapter in 2024.
Now, tensions have escalated further in the financial standoff between New Line Cinema and Horizon Series, the production company Costner founded to back the films. The conflict stems from the debut release, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, which failed to perform commercially.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinema has filed an arbitration claim against Horizon Series, alleging that the terms of their co-financing deal entitle them to repayment. This marks the latest blow to a franchise already mired in uncertainty. Chapter 2 remains in limbo with no clear release path, while Chapter 3 began production last year under shaky financial circumstances, without the full funding secured.
The dispute shows no signs of resolution yet, and more developments are expected.
