Sony has been a bit stingy, which is ridiculous, especially after they recently raised the price of PlayStation Plus again (and will probably have to do the same in the United States soon…).
Earlier this week, we reported on the PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium game additions for May. The PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog, available to PS Plus Premium subscribers, is probably the most absurd this month, as Sony has expanded the selection with just ONE title, the 2003 PS2 game Battle Engine Aquila. PlayStation Plus Extra includes nine titles, but one is a trilogy, so effectively it’s eleven games launching early next week for subscribers.
Typically, Sony adds around 15 games in total to both the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (accessible via Extra and Premium tiers) and the Classics Catalog. But in May, that number dropped to just 10. And none of them really stand out. Unsurprisingly, fans on Reddit are voicing strong criticism (and not just there—the PlayStation Blog post announcing the line-up is also filled with negative comments).

One user wrote that Humankind has been abandoned by its developers on console and that it’s impossible to earn the Platinum Trophy. Another expressed frustration that Sony is recycling titles from PlayStation Plus Essential into higher tiers. Someone else said they expected a stronger line-up, especially after the games that left the service in April.
Based on the comments, Sony really dropped the ball here. A comeback would be welcome, but knowing the company, that’s unlikely to happen.
